International Kite Festival to be held from 12th of January in Telangana
The International Kite Festival which is coinciding with the festival of Makar Sankranti will be held at Telangana for six days from the 12th of January at Hyderabad and at two other districts.
The International Kite Festival is being organized by Telangana Tourism and it is said that the event will help raise awareness about empowerment of girl child and the need for education of girl child. The event is expected to have about 50,000 visitors.
“The festival will have participation from 17 countries with 70 international and 40 national kite flyers, and a special night-flying event is scheduled on January 12 as a pre-festival event at People’s Plaza here,” said a release from Telangana Tourism.
Sources reveal that the main event of kite flying will take place on the 13th, 14th and 15th of January at the Aga Khan Academy. The main aim of the festival is to “fly a kite for a girl child and colour the sky for a cause”.
The festival will also be held at Yadadri district on the 16th of January and at Warangal on 17th January.
